The exact price depends on coat condition, behaviour and chosen style. If extra time is needed, the groomer agrees it before work begins — no surprises at checkout.
The back may be ready for grooming while the head or flanks still need time. That is why Hand Stripping cannot be planned by the calendar alone. In brief: it removes outer coat that is mature enough to release readily; coat texture, grooming history and the dog’s response to work on each area determine the technique and timing.
Two dogs of the same breed can look quite different after different grooming programmes, without either outline being inherently right or wrong. The practical difference lies in the process, goal and upkeep. In brief: clippers shorten hair above the skin, while Hand Stripping selects and removes mature outer coat; the sensible choice depends on today’s coat, grooming history and what the dog can comfortably manage.
In brief: schnauzer care becomes simpler when you treat body coat, undercoat, beard and leg furnishings as four separate jobs. Each has its own rhythm; most home-care problems start when wet beard or leg hair is left until the day before the appointment.
In brief: show preparation does not begin with the final bath. Coat planning, calm handling practice, a short stand and gradual exposure to busy surroundings all need time. The last few days should be for small refinements, not a complete change of plan.
